Children’s 2025 Summer Reading

Harwinton Public Library’s Summer Reading program is sponsored by the Harwinton Public Library Friends. The Friends work hard all year long to raise money through events, so that we can provide our community with a summer filled with imagination, learning, and fun.

Summer Reading Packets – You can pick up a summer reading packet at our kick-off on June 25th or any time the following week.
You can also download the Governor’s Summer Reading Log if you wish!
All summer reading materials are supplied as hard copies at the library!
Readers Are Leaders!

Read 5 books and win:
- A Readers Are Leaders t-shirt at the finale!
- A Summer Reading Certificate!
- Free pizza at the finale!
- A chance to have your name pulled to be Selectman for a day! (If your name gets pulled, you get a special certificate, you get to meet the first selectman and other representatives, then you get a tour of town hall all on a day you choose)

Return to us by July 19th to be eligible for prizes. You can drop them in the book drop, or take a picture and email them to us!

Teen’s 2025 Summer Reading

Teens may participate in any kids programs and presentations. They are welcome to also participate in Readers are Leaders.
July 1st @ 2pm – Gem Art
Come and relax with some fun gem art! Make your own stickers to take home with you! Decorate your notebooks, phone cases, windows, and water bottles with your own art!
Ages 11+. Please register.
July 15th @ 2pm – Creative Writing Workshop
Are you interested in creative writing? Mrs. Molly, a self-published author, will help walk you through some creative exercises and will provide some prompts to help spark your creativity. Feel free to ask her any questions you might have on publishing or writing.

July 29th @ 2pm – Pressed Flowers Craft
Arrange pressed flowers in this lovely craft time. Take how your creations to hang in lockers, use as bookmarks, or hang in windows.
