Evening Book Discussion
September 21 @ 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

This month’s book selection is The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon.
Set in Hallowell, Maine during the brutally cold winter of 1789, the story begins when a man’s body is discovered entombed in the frozen Kennebec River. Midwife Martha Ballard is called to examine the corpse and recognizes the man as one of two local gentlemen accused of a recent sexual assault. When a male physician dismisses the death as an accident, Martha uses her meticulous diary entries to conduct her own investigation and seek justice.
