Children’s Story Times

Winter Storytimes
January through second week of April
Tuesday’s @ 10am or Thursday’s @ 10am
Read one book, sing songs, and learn! At the end of each session there will be a craft, scarf play, yoga, bubbles, and more! Each session is different!
Please register so we can reach everyone in case of snow! Ages 0-5.
Homeschool storytimes
Every other Wednesday @ 2pm
March 11th + 25th
April 8th + 22nd
For ages 6-10.
One of our local homeschooling mom’s, Andrea Fitzpatrick, is providing a homeschooler storytime for homeschoolers in the area! All are welcome, of course, whether they are homeschooled or not!
Parents must attend with their kids.
No need to register.

Find O’Bookery the Leprechaun from March 9th – 17th in our children’s section. Tell the librarian where he is and receive your prize!

March 21st @ 11am Learn About the Axolotl
This is a program for the whole family! Come see some real Axolotl’s and learn all about them in this incredible program!
Axolotl’s are not native to our area, but they have become very popular for their goofy appearance and are now a hallmark of the younger generations.

March 28th @ 11am Watercolor Painting
Is your child interested in painting? Register your child to come to the library and do a watercolor painting of their pet! Bring a picture of a beloved animal and local artist, Nancy Roman, will walk the kids through step-by-step how to make a beautiful painting.
This program will be an hour and a half and the kids will be painting for the entirety of the time. Parents are welcome to come and sit with their child.

April 6th – 18th Spring Egg Hunt
All teens and kids are welcome to come anytime we are open between the 6th and 18th to find the numbered eggs in our kids section. There will be a prize for finding them all!

April 25th @ 11am Family Fairy Terrarium Craft
Come enjoy making a fairy terrarium as a family! All materials will be provided, but everyone is free to bring things from their own home and yard if they so desire! Take your time and when you are finished, take it home to put in your garden or window.

May 9th @ 10:30am Mother’s Day Craft
The Harwinton Women’s Club is coming back to the library to do another craft with the kids! This year they are making pop-up cards and tissue paper flowers for mom!
Ages 4-10. Please register. Spots fill up fast!
May 30th @ 10:30am Bubble Science
Come explore the magic of bubbles through cool science experiments! We are having Coolology back to our library for this awesome program.
What could be more fun than learning about bubbles? Children measure, experiment and explore the science behind making and blowing the best soap bubbles. Skills learned and phenomena explained by bubbles in this program include: light and color, chemical composition, surface tension, measurement, geometry and much more!
Ages 6-12. Please register.

Come enjoy this folding book craft that anyone can do! Create a spring chicken out of an old book and take it home when you’re done.
The last time we did a book folding craft, we made hedgehogs, and they came out so cute!
Listen to music and hang out with friends as you fold.
