Welcome to the Library!
The Harwinton Library is open to residents and non-residents alike. Items may be returned inside or through our Book Drop.

Computers are available for adults and children. The library has headphones and disposable headphone covers you can borrow. You are also welcome to bring your own headphones if you need to use computer audio.

Librarian's Corner


A resounding Thank You! to all of the sponsors, volunteers, and participants who helped us celebrate Summer Reading 2026: Stars, Stripes, & Stories. Our jam-packed summer featured history, magic, animals, music, stories, science, crafts – and books. Our mighty readers rose to the challenge, borrowing a record-breaking 2447 children’s books during July!

There’s still plenty to enjoy as summer winds down. Join Miss Carissa for Giggles & Wiggles on August 11 and 25 or turn a discarded book into a reading mascot at our Book Chicken Craft program. Drop in to our Chess Club on Monday evenings and enjoy a friendly game while you sharpen your skills. Share your gardening questions, successes, and samples at Let’s Talk Gardening or bring your current project to work on at our Craft & Chat group.

Please note the Library will be CLOSED the week of August 17 – 22 while our restrooms are renovated. Don’t worry that you’ll run out of books to read: you an stock up at our Library Friends’ Summer Book Sale on Saturday, August 15.
