Mark Twain and the Supernatural – 6:30 pm
April 24 @ 6:30 pm
The Harwinton Historical Society and the Harwinton Library Friends are delighted to welcome Jason Scappaticci, the “Bowtie Historian,” to present Mark Twain and the Supernatural.
Known best today for his frank observations on society, Mark Twain also lived during the spiritualist craze in the United States. Throughout his life he took an interest in the spirit world through attending seances, palm readings, and meeting mediums. His views on the ability to communicate with the spirit world fluctuated throughout his life. Using his own writing from newspapers and his personal journals, this lecture will explore Mark Twain’s thoughts.
This program will be presented in person in the Town Hall Assembly Room at 100 Bentley Drive (right across from the Library!). Registration is not required. Please join us for this intriguing program.
